This is in remembrance of my father Robert Noze, whomintroduced me tothe art of sculpting. Robert Noze was able to carve a figure from a single piece of wood. using an hatchet ( Rache ) . To finish the sculpture he used a technique he called” Agreille” . when completed he would sand the work and use meltedcandle with special chemicals to polish the final work. My father ‘s specialty was carving Giant tree roots. His most famous was displayed at The Haitian International Airport. The Subject matters are usually religious. His Favorite“Adam and Eve”. He also was commission to do Bust of the wealthy. He is most famous for hi rendition of “ Duvalier” for which he received a commission of $1million Gourdes , he spent in one week with friends .
In 1986 Robert Noze’s entire collection was stolen by an American transport agency in Miami. The last of His work were not photograph and are still believed to be in the possession of this Cambrioleur .
Robert Noze, Died in 2004 He was 79 years old, inBrooklyn , New York.
His legacy of art, wood carving remains strong within my life as a Painter , sculptor, and portrait artist.
